On New Year’s day, 2016, I was hiking south of Grenoble, France with friends from Australia and the conversation moved to our return to Australia in the coming months.
I felt a huge heaviness in my heart centre, my solar plexus were tight and a subtle wave of nausea washed over me. I was VERY attached to the French Alps – my whole being was saying I DO NOT want to go home!
You see, whilst we were away, several things changed in my life. Firstly, I was outside, exploring and discovering new things just about every day and it wasn’t just in a tourist, sight-seeing capacity when we were on the road, it was more as a nature lover – exploring the woods, the mountains, the creeks and streams, the people and so many places old and new.
I found this to be incredibly nourishing mentally, physically and emotionally.
I also spent time with some incredible teachers in the fields of mind body wellness, feminine wisdom and relationship coaching. Knowing the self and connecting with the true nature of self, as well as the natural environment, was a key element of the work we did together. I felt centred and whole.
Upon reflection, I saw that it wasn’t just the mountains; it was what they had awoken in me, that I was feeling very protective of and fearful of losing. What I had fallen in love with, was the mind-set of curiosity and awe that was present every day, evoking feelings of gratitude for the incredible opportunity to be alive and adventurously exploring this beautiful planet.
This realisation filled me with inspiration…
Everything I was attached to, I could bring back to Australia with me.
And then I got really excited because I realized that this was so valuable, I needed to share it.
No more pain in my heart or nausea at my solar plexus – Just pure joy radiating from my whole being – A sense of being on purpose surged through me.
Life is an adventure and sometimes we forget and lose our way, getting caught in the narrative of the mind, that it should be this way or it should be that way. We find ourselves numb in the daily routine. We find ourselves not present to what is and we miss the magic that is there right in front of us just waiting to delight the soul, rather than the senses.
Sometimes we just need to take a day out, a change of scene, a change of thoughts, a change in the company we keep, a change to the way we are breathing and moving our body. Sometimes we need a circuit breaker to reset our system and reconnect with our true nature and it’s ultimate energy source.
A perfect way to marry each of my passions into one unique offering – yoga, meditation, time in nature, nourishing foods for the body and philosophy to nourish the mind and soul: The One Day Retreat idea was born…
Ten beautiful women joined me last month to trial the idea at a glorious beach location and here are some of the things they had to say afterwards:
“A chance to revive and be. Tania brings a warm, uplifting authenticity – she’s respectful & embodies all that she teaches” Fiona H
“Tania’s soothing meditation voice – chicken soup for my soul” Katie B
“A rare opportunity to reconnect with myself, gain insight into my behavior and how I can deal with situations better” Jenny L
“a chance to step back, reflect and get some balance” Olivia T
“I recommend this day to everyone who believes their life is too busy – this is just what they need.” Kylie R
“Tania was articulate, clear and centered. Her passion for what she does radiates through her. I’m going to make more time for myself and hold onto this sense of peace within.” Karen T
“I recommend this for anyone who can’t get away for a whole weekend, but still needs to slow down, recharge and ponder…a process that made me feel good about being me.” Sonelina P
“The whole day was great. Lovely yoga, outstanding food and some great connections. A complete disconnect from the day to day life.” Jackie L
These days are for you to slow down and take time out for you. Its just one day, yet it feels like so much more.
If one day, just for you is just what you need right now, I would love to hear from you.
